Look to the entrance side. depending on which bridge unit it is either just after the metal jam clearance lever or just before it (as paper exits the fuser).
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

There are actually 3 sensors, inlet, outlet, and one more that actuates to show the inner receiving cavity is full (or just a few rolled up faxes have flagged it. Emujo

ok, need a little verification and a part number

the bridge is a KN-3520. the entrance sensor appears to need a spring to activate the sensor like the exit sensor. can someone verify if there is supposed to be a spring there. also, if so, i need the part number please.
        thanks in advance!

In those units, only one sensor has a spring - believe it is the one on the exit side that does. Are you getting a jam indicating the bridge unit? if so, which one? We have had a few of those sensors go bad, and on some of our higher mileage machines we have needed to replace the one-way gears on the transport roller shafts.

            getting an E550, bridge unit.

its not consistant so i'm not sure where to look. i'm trained on Kyoceras and have no clue to this machine. i have no manuals to look at either (trying to get some).

is the one-way gear as it comes into the bridge? can you post a picture of what i'm looking for?

possible part numbers for the sensor and gear?

I don't have my book in front of me but I am fairly certain e550 is paper left on path due to double feeding from the drawer. IE a time out type jam. If that second sensor has a spring on it take it off, it causes the flag to fall back too fast... generally you'd get e930/920 with this though. Also make sure both actuators are turning very freely on the little metal pins, I have had them get tight and not swing very smoothly. There are one way gears or bearings in that bridge unit and the whole unit drives off the fuser or exit drive. I have had a couple also that just needed the tires really scrubbed in the bridge and supeled back up, you can also bend the pinch roller springs in so they press harder on the drive tires.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

                partno for sensor is
                4132-1248000
these sensors fit more or less every bridge unit remove the spring they work a lot better whithout them

its always the sensor nearest fuser that goes and becomes unreliable you can get away with swapping them around to keep the box going but order 2 and change both

have a usefull tosh parts guide we put together if any one wants it Freeee !!!!!!!!

Question about these bridge sensors for KN-3511 & KN-3520:
Does anyone know of a different manufacturer sensor & part number that works in these Toshiba bridges that would be cheaper than the Toshiba bridge sensors?
These sensors too expensive and when I have bridge jams, I replace all 3 to make sure the problem is resolved on a first visit.
                  Thanks for your help.
