I could understand that maybe service manuals and service handbooks should not be free. But firmware I believe should be free. Why Toshiba does not follow the lead of Xerox and Hp and have updated Firmware on there websites for free I will not understand. Firmware is there because that means there is a issue of some what with that product or machine. And many times the firmware would take care of that issue. Just saying. And Yes I do Own my own company.

The problem with Toshiba is that their f/w can be complicated to install and it's very easy to mess it up and render the machine inoperable. Red dot, yellow dot, etc. The machines seem quite happy to take the wrong f/w and then stop working. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of service calls that would be generated if everyone tried upgrading the f/w on their own machines. If they could simplify and fool-proof the process then I'd be all for public posting of f/w.

check your email for instructions do you know about the red dot by the lens box that requires firmware installed different let me no

Do any of these posters from outside the UK and US realize that they are asking for firmware that will probably result in additional problems based on their country...What are you going to tell your Korean (for example) customer when you load this firmware.."Now's a good time for you to learn English"? Or sorry, the fax is now programmed for US telephony...Emujo

Emujo was very kindly pointing out to you that you may not be able to use US firmware even if it was offered to you. Do your endusers read American English prompts? Do your machines connect to US phone lines? Emujo don't piggish! He was trying to help you.

In my country there is no localized version for display language. So in 99% we are using English and less than 1% French, Italian, German... etc. I see bigger problem not in language but paper format - inch or metric and of course telephone line settings (Austrian for my country which is 1000 km away). Any way everyone asking for firmware MUST keep in mind that there are quite many markets and in any market localization versions of each firmware. Lets take MJD market for example - Europe. There are aprox. 20 languages... Almost all of the localizations (20) has different default settings. What a mess. So be careful what You demand and what You receive. And listen to people who warned You "kindly"... And don't be so shy to show in which country You are living. That will help in such a cases.
