Is this just when doing a black copy or a colour copy? What about printing from the network, is that causing the same issue?

If printing from the network is causing the same issue, then I would be stopping the machine half way through a copy and seeing if toner was indeed making to the drum and transfer belt.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

        several things come to mind.

Something between the drum and the laser. If the laser was bad it would code out.
        No developer in the unit.
        Bad drum ground.
        bad developer bias.
bad transfer (drum to belt) bias.
        bad 2nd transfer bias.

I put a piece of paper between drum and main charge and see if I get a dark band on the copier. If so then the voltages are usually close to being correct and I look at the laser at that point. If not then what THEOWL said, start a 11 x 17 screen shot and stop it (open a door) and see where you have image. Where you do not is the problem.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Is it black or blank? You typed both in your OP?
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.
