es550 EB5 code

This machine keeps getting this code out of the LCF. It means "Paper left in path". It always stops at the second from the bottom feed head, there's no paper damage and everything else has cleared the paper path. When it happens and it can be every ten or so sheets, the machine will run for 20 secs more then shutdown with the jam showing and 8-C will show EB5. LCF feed rollers where replaced, then the whole feed heads swapped between LCF and second from bottom.

Furthermore, the error list can show other codes, ADF for instance, but no EB5's.

I'm stuck.

I have the same problem ,sorry no repair advice but did you find the problem???

We never fixed it. The machine was placed in a warehouse for several months, came out doing the same thing. Without looking at the log I knew where this machine came from. I think the problem was in the registration unit, I got occasional fan folds. The reg motor and rollers had been replaced in the past, my next idea was the logic bd. driving the motor. They replaced the machine before I had to do that though and hopefully that box is in the recycling yard today.

The transport rollers are not making sufficient contact with the six white rollers on the access door. The springs which are used on the door rollers have been updated with stiffer ones which increase the contact. The part number for the new springs are 6LA14855000. I have heard of techs doubling up the old roller springs and achieving the same positive result.

At the time that alteration was looked at and those springs were very stiff. But I had this problem several years ago and my memory is foggy.

Office depot red label paper will cause this to no end. Also check the springs (as mentioned by the great guru), and the feed clutch, and torque limiter on the sep roller.

Replace the pf clutches. You have to figure out which ones are causing the problem by swapping feed units around but it is usually the lcf feed unit. Ive tried the new vertical transport springs with no luck so I doubt that is it.
