The machine is also contactable over the network.

Could you please read the posts from the start and not half way through.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

The Owl is right. The problem I am having is connecting to the machine to retriving the scanned documents on the HD. I will attempt formatting the drive when I am next at the office (won't be until next week) Seems like obtaining the firmware is going to be a problem though.

As mentioned in the previous posts connect via crossover cable.on your laptop/ pc goto network connections right click-goto properties then select tcp-ip.select manual then put both the copier & pc in similar ranges.next open your browser and enter the ip address of the copier you should be able to get to top access and action the settings I mentioned previously.this way you can eliminate the router as a problem.sorry if it sounds pedantic,as I don't know your expertise or experience with networking or these machines
