Will google more today but first hit was $30 for that small plastic gear - seems obscene (to me anyhow)

Is that bushing you mentioned on the opposite side from the gear on the fuser?

    thanks again for your time.
there are 2 bushings, 1 on either side of the heat roller, in that parts list its Item #10 (same part for each side)
but i wouldn't worry about them, plenty of other things will break before them...

The 6LE... part # above is the latest i have...

and $30 is pretty standard for the gear, most gears are made out of a special strong, heat resistant plastic so they can cost more than expected...

      Fuser

I certainly don't mean any disrespect at all and won't bug you anymore..but I have been working on this model since it started coming off the production line years ago..Your best investment is a new fuser by far..However, if you do repair yours, I wish you well. It will give you a nice sense of accomplishment..

Heres the part number, Im from the uk so it might be different. 6LE95885000. Thats the modified modified part number. Was quite a common fault when i think about it.
I still have one in my car stock but its only the modified gear lol.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

None take at all - on the contrary, I appreciate your feedback.

Update: got the gear and installed it. Removed the 2 broken claws and spaced the rest out. tested it by coping 5 sheets. Of the five, 3 gut stuck under a claw (always the same one) and caused a jam... seems I need new claws..

Does anyone know the latest part number for these claws?

            thanks.

Here are the part numbers for the sep claws and springs (incase you need a some).

              41306067000 - SEP-HT/RLR (claw)
              41305516000 - SPE-CLW (spring)

I would also check to see if the part of the plasitc frame where they sit is not warped. can sometimes cause a few issues but might be expensive. A trick on those machines if you are desperate is you can change the paper direction from A4 to A4-R (I am from the UK, we use A4). It can help with jams.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

michaelc, thanks. What does the -R mean?

I am assuming these claws "ride" or "scrape" the drum and are meant to push the paper away from the drum - is this correct?

I assumed you meant the fuser, those on the drum i think only come with the process unit as a whole unit. I have only ever ordered the full units in. It stands for reduction i think, for when you reduce the image from A3 down to A4. I dont know what paper you use but instead of the paper going through the machine portrait put it through the machine landscape, if that makes sense. You will have to set the cassette size correctly on the machine though as if it detects the wrong paper size you will get jams in the exit giving you E01 codes.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I do mean the fuser - sorry. I will try to turn the paper in the cassette and see if that does anything... thanks for the suggestion. BTW I use 8.5x11 paper...
