    Printing Issues e-Studio 3530c

I am having a printing issue with my 3530c. I am printing an invoice run of about 600 pages. The print job actually consists of about 300 documents of 2 pages each, not 1 document of 600 pages. I am receiving the print job from a unix machine using CUPS. I have configured the printer's RAW settings such that it outputs to tray1, my 1 bin sorter.

The problem that I am having is that the printer adjusts the sorter after each document. Since I am printing 300 documents, it is making my printer go crazy, adjusting itself after each document, or about every 2 pages. This is creating a lot of wear and tear on the machine, plus extra noise. I could send the job to the inner tray but I really want it to come out of the sorter. Is there a way to turn off the sorting feature of this tray and make it stop moving for all raw documents?

    Thanks

Which Finisher do you have? MJ1031 Hanging, MJ1101 Floor, MJ1030 Saddle Stitch?

Which version of firmware is your copier?

Which version of Print Driver are you using?

Is this two page job being stapled? By "adjust the sorter", do you mean offset?

Is the Paper size Letter or Letter-R?

Which paper drawer(s) are you pulling paper from?

If the tray is moving up and down after each document has landed on the tray, this is normal. The finisher is checking the height of the tray + documents (the ones on the tray), so you dont get jams . The wear and tear I wouldnt worry about to much. The rails on most finisher are pretty robust and will take a lot of punishment. I would be more worried about running out of toner or staples.
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I understand why the finisher is moving up and down, I just find it to be a huge office distraction. If I print a 100 page document it only moves up and down once, when the document finishes printing and not each page.

If it is ok on other jobs and not this one, it must be the print job. I had a customer with the same issue but it was the program they were using to print the reports.

It does work correctly. The problem is that I am not sending 1 document of 100 pages I am sending 100 documents of 1 page. This causes the sorter to move after each document, or 100 times.

I guess I will have to print my invoice run to the inner tray, and my other less frequent documents to the exit tray (or sorter)
