It kinda sounds like a copy counter error, the LGC board and the SYS board keep a counter, if they are different it can display a msg but the ones i have seen say "check total counter" but I have never see the issue on a 281c. If this is what the problem is you will need to go 08 mode key in 257, and copy the LGC counter the the sys counter. so it should be 08-257-1. Hope this helps.

Does the machine boot up? if not what error code occurs? These may be silly questions. Was it a working comaptible system board (we had 1 guy use an es-3511 board by accident), is everything plugged in correctly and did you also swap the hard drive at the same time (using the one which was already on the system board). What version of firmware was on the machine before the board replacement and did the system board firmware upgrade ok?
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I have had such a problem with e452. Downgrading firmware version to 320 (I think this was the version) solves the problem. Also there is a solution to use latest version but have to change nvram chip to new one.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.
