I can't find any reference to Smart Ring where the phone line has a special ring for faxes - a double ring. Running v340 firmware, would a higher firmware cover that? Thanks! John :-#)#

I don't know about Toshy, but most manufacturers call it Distinctive Ring, or DRPD.
That's the first time I've heard it called Smart Ring. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Distinctive Ring is a copyrighted feature that is owned by a 3rd party, Any vendor who wants to add this feature to their product must pay a royalty for each fax board made. Toshiba has elected not to pay this royalty and therefore does not offer this feature.
I recommend you get a 3rd party device called "the Stick" from Multi-Link Inc: Dependable Fax Switch - Line Sharing Devices since 1987. at $139.00 . Easy to install and works well.Comment
