Did you go through all the items in the Firmware Assist mode such as clearing the NVRAM Flags?

Was the machine working prior to the firmware update?
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Re: E232 not access 08 mode

Use the start + 1 to check the display panel (i think that is the code). I am assuming the display will be working if you can press 4+9 for the firmware update but still worth a check. After a firmware update you need to go straight into the 08 codes. Code 947 then initialise (as didi mentioned). After the firmware update do you or can you access the 08 codes?

You could try repartitioning the hard drive before the firmware update.

What was the reason for the firmware update?
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.
