CE40 Image quality control test pattern abnormality: The test pattern is not formed normally. most likely wear and tear parts worn out, Developers/ Drum etc, Look at the Transfer belt and check to see what the test pattern looks like, it should be a Sold and a Half tone Rectangle of each colour.

Could be a lot of things. First of all is the transfer belt intact? Have you much experience on these models (just to if not I will have to type more).
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

I wouldn't pat yourself on the back yet...you would get a low toner message long before you started getting the CE40 error code. My guess is the MFP just passed its IQC tests this time, but at the next look, it will be back. It could be low developer, bad t-fer belt, worn drum, cleaning blade (drum/x-fer belt), or dirty sensor. If you print out the test charts, what does the overall color/black CQ look like? EMujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

FIRST PULL OUT THE BELT CLEANER AND SEE IF IT'S FULL OR THE SPRING IS POPPING OUT if so vacuum it and put it back on the gear assy. Also vacuum or replace the waste toner as this is probably the cause of the cleaner backing up. Good luck.

Well, he's had 4 years to work on it so it's probably fixed or junked by now.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
