    3500c Add Cyan Toner

We have replaced the customer's genuine Toshiba Cyan toner with 2 brand new genuine Toshiba Cyan toners ... the machine goes thru the motions of adding toner only to say add Cyan Toner. The photo sensor appears to be fine at the back of the machine. Nothing sounds stuck and we cleaned out the opening to the dev unit to ensure there wasn't toner packed in so tight the dev unit auger would get stuck. Would the ATDS be the problem for this one? We're going to rip out the developer unit and see if there's anything obvious there as well.

    Thanks.

It seems the copier is dumping developer and not reading the proper amount of toner. maybe the upgrade kit is not installed in this unit for the drum and its pulling the developer to the disposal bottle.

Thanks for the replies. What do you mean by "upgrade kit?" Firmware?

Check the value of (05) 390/391 for any abnormality, or does it generate C390 code? I would check this first as have had a couple of corrupt machines before where the count was at ridiculous readings not related to developer, reload firmware probably isn't a bad idea. If the sensor tests ok and values are near to normal just take the C toner cartridge out and run (05) 203 (many will probably disagree with this) then run initialization and gamma adjust. But this is all assuming it is not related to developer material..

Their would be more wiser answers but this has worked for me

Darn machine now says Cyan Toner Not Recognized. But it still prints!!

            New toner. New ATDS.

            What gives with this model!?

These are a great machine but the key is in the servicing IMO, it should be done for all machines but these are more critical.. Vast majority of the machines for us that we have in the field have not had a problem in 12 months, not even 1 service call.. Make sure all the contacts at the rear of the machine are clean and free from toner powder.

If its not recognized, why not check the photo interrupter sensor at the rear of the machine.

If it was me I would strip whole PU down, just dump the dev onto paper strain it using flour sieve and sand mag roller evenly, check db gap, clean charger and drum.. It takes a little bit of time but well worth it for many reasons.

These are quite a dirty machine, which isn't helped by the high quantity of developer in the dev units and strong image density.. If you want to know how my techs tackle this machine PM me and i'm happy to let you know what we do for all of them.
