    e-studio 355 f105 error

Got this error about 2 weeks ago and the customers informed me after rebuilding their templates they had 08-690 2 (formatted the HDD), was not pleased with it but hey that's another story. Anyway monday morning a week later and F105 pops up again. I did a sector test and it was OK, formatted HDD, redid templates and made a back up. I'm suspecting the HDD which seems I'll have to get my hands on a 60GB drive. My question is will I have to do firmware as some say that I will. If so what are the steps for going thru that as I'm a Kyocera/Konica Minolta tech. I'll prolly have to hit up Paul for firmware so I want to make sure I have the right info so I can get the right firmware. Thanx.

You'll lose the system software when you change out the drive. It will be a good time to upgrade the rest of the firmware. You'll want to read the full description in the manual, but it's fairly easy:

When you install the new drive you'll want to format it in service mode 03.

You'll power off the machine, insert the USB stick pre-loaded with firmware, then start up in service mode 49. Select the firmware files you'd like, then start. When it's all complete power Off. You'll have to initialize the firmware (don't remember the sim). It takes a really long time for the service mode to come up, so don't panic if it takes 10 minutes or more.

A clone will capture the scan settings, profiles, and addressbook, but lose the IP address. If all goes well you've got about an hour's work. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      (1) Check if the connectors of the HDD are disconnected.
      (2) Check if the connector pins are disconnected or the wires of harnesses are broken.
      (3) Perform the bad sector check (08-694). If the check result is OK, recover the data in the HDD. If
the check result is failed, replace the HDD.
      (4) Replace the SYS board / SYS-IMG board.

I've gone thru the steps and done the bad sector check which came out OK, but it seems every monday morning I'm having to go reformat the HDD and reinstall the templates. Getting an HDD shouldn't be hard it's going to be the FW, so I'll prolly be contacting Paul? Can I just take the latest FW and go with it or do I need to install it in steps or whatnot? As I said I'm not a Toshiba tech so this is kinda uncharted waters for me.

If it was an older model yes it would have to be done in steps.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.
