What is happening is if I copy a katun test chart after even 1 copy the lead edge is smeared and the fuser entrance guide has a toner film on it that will transfer to even blank copies. If I clean off the fuser guide and run copys that dont come close to the lead edge they come out clean. Then if I run the test sheet again I get the smear and contaminated fuser guide.I have replaced all maint parts and complete different fuser, drum unit, developer unit and coronas. I also changed the High voltage board and the wires going to the right side door and the transfer corona contacts. I am at a loss now and seeing if anyone else has seen something like this. Thanks for any help

Re: ES452 lead edge CQ problem
Have you brought your own paper? I think I'd try a slightly stiffer paper, like 24# to see if it makes a difference. Possible temperature/humidity issue, causing the paper to be limp?
Is there an adjustment to the fuser inlet guide? If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: ES452 lead edge CQ problem
Thanks for your reply. There is no guide adjustment. I was thinking of bringing some of our paper to try next time I go there. It seems like there is nothing else. Customers paper looks good but like you suggest I will try some known good paper. ThanksComment

Re: ES452 lead edge CQ problem
Are you sure one of the fans in the transfer/separation door aren't broken? this used to be quite common (the breaking of fan blades)
If one of the fans is broken then the suction / push effect which works alongside the separation could cause the paper to drift towards one of the fuser ramps, causing toner from the paper to brush against the guide before it's had chance to be fused.
I've also seen a similar thing happen when pirate toner was being used ( think it was katun ) on an old e167.

Re: ES452 lead edge CQ problem
I will check into the fans. I have had some that broke fan blades before. I thought those fans were just for cooling. I didnt know they had anything to do with aiding separation. It is something to try anyways which is what I am looking for. ThanksComment
