Estudio 557 dead.....and a bit of a rant about Toshiba quality control...

Another lovely Toshiba machine has died, lasted a whole 2 weeks from install , brand new machine has 6k on it. Customer came in today and only the red LED by the on/off switch was on, if I reboot it the fan on the sys board turns for a bit, cant get into any service modes . Tried a new power supply , no go , so while I wait for sys and logic boards & hdd to show up anyone else seen this lol? The worst part about this call is we finally upgraded this customer to a new machine to replace a nightmare worn out,520, this is the second call, a sensor in one of the feed units fell off last week, wasn't installed properly at the factory!
I have replaced two logic boards (2555 & 3555) and a power supply (347c) on machines less than a month old recently , the 3555 was only 2 days old when the board blew! Not to mention all the photo sensors I have replaced recently , changed more bad sensors in the last year than I have in the previous 27 yrs fixing copiers. We have had issues with close to half the new Toshibas we have put out recently( had a new lcf last week missing screws and a part installed wrong, right out of the box. Toshibas quality control seems to be non existent at this point anyone else having similar issues? pretty pathetic when you don't get calls on all the ancient machines ,only the new junk.....

In all fairness, I do not see a representative sample of the Toshibas, Konica Minoltas, Kyoceras, and Lexmarks that our company sells and services. The majority of the machines I see are on their 4rth recall within a month. Unsurprisingly, I see the strangest things. Sure I see bad logic and system boards, blown NVRAM and SRAM, and Hard Drives, and tons of those Sharp "73" sensors in every conceivable location (and usually intermittent). I see shorts to frame ground, and open circuits.

For me this is just a day in the life of a service tech. Welcome! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
