    CE71 on eS4540C

I've worked on this issue before. I've solved this issue before with phase sensors S15/S16.

I've tested the phase sensors in 03-All:Off, 1E and 1F. And the sensors seem to change state consistently. I've discovered that this test is not definitive though. Today I changed out the sensors twice, just to be sure.

I'm returning Monday with the drum drive assembly and the LGC. I imagine there could be a drum motor issue. The individual drums turn easily, very little load.

    What am I missing? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Re: CE71 on eS4540C

    Hi Buddy,
Could be a drum unit / epu starting to get tight.
Might also be worth removing the gears from the drum drive, cleaning the shafts & applying some ptfe lubricant & aligning the gears with the arrows / making sure there isn't one tooth on a gear thats deformed / damaged / got some crud stuck next to it.

I've had a couple where nothing has stopped the error apart from disabling the drum phase check 08-4766
Doing the above is supposed to cause slight deviation in colours, but I've never encountered this ( maybe with a fiery controller & someone with a professional printers magnifying glass & super vision it might look a fraction out, but hey it's an office based colour machine not a pro printer's machine )

    Cheers.

The drum drive assembly fixed it. I really really did not want to change out the logic PWB and lose the PaperCut authentication configuration.

Since I have to fix up the donor also, I'll be ordering the drum motor and phase motor, and the three photointerrupters. =^..^=

We see CE71 on the machines that have the defective Sharp sensors in them. Not sure if its isolated to Canada only but its been a big problem up here. The EX Mash machines have 26 of these sensors in them. Its a whole day just to do one machine. These sensors are in the 4540c series,456 series,656 series, mj1101,1103/4,1106/8 finishers, pedestals, lcf's etc. If you look down at the sensors from the top they are labeled Sharp and then the lot number is marked opposite of the connector. The lot number is A18. The sensors don't output enough light so once they get dusty they work intermittently or not at all.
