    5520C CECO error

Keep getting this error. Changed 2nd transfer roller and cleaning roller and reset but this keeps coming back. Any ideas?

    Hi:

That error is caused by a one way clutch slipping . This clutch is located on the end of the shaft that drives the second transfer roller assy back and forth. Remove the registration motor assy. Behind it you will see a small white gear. It has a blue insert with some one way needle bearings in it. When these slip it causes the error your experiencing. Just replace it and you should be all set.

Agreed. Sometime you can soak out the one-way bearing in alcohol, then lubricate it with light oil, like Triflow. Also keep in mind that that error message can be caused by failure of the photointerrupter that detects the shift. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Not sure if you guys are confusing the 5520c with a 4520c with the one way bearing problems.

I have had to change the wiring harness a couple of times in the duplex/2nd transfer unit but i can't remember what the exact error code was. Also check the teeth of the gears are clear of grit.

I've had this before. It's the magnetic clutch. You can take the back cover off and see if it's engaging when you try to make a copy. I just cleaned it with Fedron and haven't heard from them since. It was happening all the time. If it's intermittent, I'd still pull the assy and clean the clutch.

            Re: 5520C CECO error

There's no one way bearing gear on the 5520c that fails ( only the 4520c & earlier )
Normaly a fragment of broken gear from the fuser drive assembly drops down in to the 2nd transfer section & gets in to the teeth of the 2nd transfer drive.
They did modify the transfer drive unit to have a mylar shield over it to prevent this, but i think that only happened either late on the 5520c range or on the newer 5540cse range.

Check the loom running to the second transfer drive clutch. IIRC there was a bulletin released regarding this loom being pinched by the cable clip.
