MJ-1028 finisher Finisher Joint Cover Location

Hello everyone. Today I installed a backup new-to-me Toshiba e-studio 856 with a MJ-1028 finisher, 6003 punch, 7001 inserter, and the LCF. The machine works fine until I attach the finisher. The display panel asks for the user to close the cover. When in top access the error is " Finisher Joint Cover Open" please close cover. My question is where is this mystery cover ? I have gone through the service manuals and found no references to Finisher Joint Cover. I have only found one reference in the Toshiba Troubleshooting Guide.

    Thank you

On the left side of the main body you should see a "spike" that aligns the finisher to the main body. Right across from that you'll see a small plastic plunger on the punch that actuates the doorswitch on the finisher.

It's common to have these finishers latch poorly, and consequently interlock poorly. Try actuating it with your thumb. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks for the reply blackcat.

Found the problem. It was the plunger in the hole punch. One little shim and working. I did not think to look there as my older 810 would error " join finisher to copier" for that.

      Thanks again.

The pic from the op panel display clued me in. I'm glad it was that easy. =^..^=

Thanks again. I have fixed several tiny little problems like finisher tray harness disconnected ??? or finisher height way way out, paper coming out of machine would simply smack the finisher. Some goldfish played with this machine before it left its previous owner or the company that last maintained this machine in Dec 2014 were bad.
Now I get to chase the last major problem a CCE1 from the inserter fan error???. and the LCF needs tlc as it sometimes pulls multiple sheets of paper. Detached the inserter and machine runs beautifully. 375K I'll double that in 3 months.
