    Xerox WC7120 - Unable to scan to email (Gmail)

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble setting up the scan to email service on a Xerox WorkCentre 7120. I already tried a couple of guides found on the Internet, but I still haven't found a solution.
    The FW version is 71.24.03 (SPAR), I updated after reading that Gmail could encounter problems with the older version I had.
    Everytime I try to send a email, the Xerox print a report error resulting in "completed with error (017-714): Smtp over ssl failed". I tried changing the SMTP port from 587 to 465, tried every available type of encryption with no luck.
    Is there anyone who can help me with this?T

    In the email send settings turn off all the ssl settings. Put any changed settings back to what they were at the start SMPT ports ect..
    See if that works

      Hi, first of all thanks for your reply!
      I did a factory reset to be sure that everything is set as "out of the box". I did what you asked, please see the following snapshot to see if something is wrong. The language is Italian, but if you need to read in English I can try to translate for you. Thanks again!

      EDIT: Tried to send email with factory default as shown in the above snapshot, still couldn't send. Get error "(016-764): SMTP Server Connection Error)"

        SMTP Server Connection Error -- Usually username or password to connect to the mail server are wrong. Do you have the SMTP server or is it an off-site one?

          The email credentials are right, if I log into the webmail I encounter no problems. What do you mean by saying "off-site" ? I don't have any server in my LAN, it's just a regular LAN (router, PCs and Xerox printers, no firewall, server or anything else), I try to connect to the regular Google SMTP server.

            Use aspmx.l.google.com as the SMTP Server. Use port 25. Under Authentication use "no Authentication. Now please remember this on the return Email address do not put in the email that you will be sending to or else the GMAIL server thinks it is SPAM and trashes it. This took me a while to figure out. Everything worked fined when I used my hotmail account in the "Return Email Address" and then scanned and emailled to my gmail account

              I already tried this guide before writing here on Copytechnet, tried again this morning but nothing changed. Tried to change SMTP port (465, 587 and, again, 25) but still not able to send anything. I always get error on authentication or about SMTP server.
              BTW I saw a strange thing: the sender email is sendermail@gmail.com, the receiver is receivermail@hotmail.it . When I get the report error it says, in the sender field, receivermail@hotmail.it instead of sendermail@gmail.com . It sounds a bit weird to me, on the upper part of the control panel, on the left, it says "From: sendermail@gmail.com", so I don't know why it prints something different from what it says on the panel.

                    Gmail updated to a higher level is SSL. You need to go into the gmail settings and confirm that you are ok with a lower security setting.
