DCCS50 converting from Cobra to EX12 Fiery

I picked up a EXFiery System for the DCCS50 at my shop. I have a Cobra on it that works. The pws says how to connect the two big cables and when I do the EX12 will blue screen and the copier shows 'check network cables/connections'. The nvm is set for '2' under copier configuration (options 0-4). Any ideas?

I know it's really old. The only driver I've found is for XP and it doesn't always connect. Also, I can send it as a ps file through the browser (very limited). I want to use up all the toner and supplies before scrapping it.

If your fiery ex12 have sys sw v1.0
you need to install patch 1-56CTP

Can you describe the 'blue screen' or post a picture of it?
It may just be the Windows NT4 startup screen, which is all you get on these, there is no desktop or need to connect mouse, keyboard or monitor.
There are also 3 or so NVM's that need to be changed so the DC12 recognizes the fiery RIP instead or a cobra.

I checked all the connectors one more time and it finally came up, runs CWS version 4, prints a few files but mostly gives errors saying it can't open the pdfs. When I have some spare time should I try to reload all the s/w on the fiery?
