Xerox WorkCentre 7765 shutdowns after few minutes

I have a Xerox WorkCentre 7765, software level 061.093.07220, which boots fine most of the time. But then, when it is ready to copy, it will shut down after a few minutes. That is: it does sound like the machine is still on. Fans are running, lights on ethernet ports are blinking. But the screen goes black (no, the energy saver button is not illuminated, neither does pressing it do anything), and the printer is off the network (cannot be pinged, is not printing, does not accept print jobs). The machine can be switched off, if you press the off button it will actually totally power down after one minute or so.

Every 3-4 boots it will not come to Copy Ready, and it will just go black after having displayed the green boot screen. I have spare parts on hand, but am not sure what to replace.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware?

I have not, but am a bit worried about it shutting down in the middle of an upgrade.

Its already a chocolate teapot by the sounds of it! Altbooting it would be best bet.

(forced) Altboot did not help, but replaced SBC PWB, only switching over flash and NVM modules, altbooted, that solved the problem. So either RAM, HD or SBC PWB must be the problem, but don't have time to troubleshoot that right now.
