Phaser 8560 process drive train question

A gear was broken on process drive unit. I reinstalled unit and told customer I would get
pricing on unit and get back to him. Customer had watched me remove and reinstall
    process drive unit.

Unknown to me ,customer had another non-working similar model on premises. He has
swapped the bad unit with a good one but called to say he believes he overtightened the
screws and the unit and it is not secure. He wants to know if it is fixable without major work.

I have done only a few calls on these machines and unfamiliar with this problem on this
model. Can some kind of soft plastic that hardens be applied to chassis area where screws
go so that the unit would then adhere to chassis?

Your help and advice is appreciated very much. Frank/AP

Re: Phaser 8560 process drive train question

    Hello
My first thought is that he said he over tightened screws and now it isnt secure? That makes me think that too much pressure was put on the mounts(what the screws go into) and they have broken off printer frame(seen this happen quite often on these older models. Newer colorqubes have longer screws and mounts which helps prevent this. Drive Frame Mount Repair Kit - Innovators 655N00426. This is what you are looking for it is essentially what you want. Although I have never installed this without any mounts broken. Check out the attachment, explains the suggested part. See if that works for you. Also check to see if the lobes of the drum maintenance camshaft are now split/cracked. Process drive stress and dm shaft stress seemingly go hand in hand. My first thought was to cross reference the process drive he replaced to make sure the part numbers match up but the older series 8400/8500/8550/8560 have same I believe. That would obviously cause issues if not.

I have repaired several of these by using long threaded screws. Super glue the broken mount to the frame for alignment, drill through the frame, and install nut on the other side of the frame. Haven't had a failure.

If it were me I'd not touch it. I don't need these type of customers. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Frank, what you need is a hand tool which could write something i.e. printer serial on drive train permanently. I would suggest you're going to buy a hand held solder with fine tip from an electronics shop and do it. This will let you and your customer know where is part coming from.
