Dell 5130 (Xerox Phaser 6700), Lost NVM Values? Error 006-370 with IOT: 00000003h

As the tittle says, I think after messing around with my Dell 5130cdn I have lost the NVM values. I replaced the ESS NVM board, but the machine only starts up to give Error 006-370 and when I hit the Info button for more info it displays IOT Error code 00000003h.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

006-370 is a failure of the laser/scanner (ROS).

Thanks for taking interest Lance15, I have cleaned and re-seated the ROS ASSY, and even replaced the ROS ASSY with a known good ASSY, and reconnected every connection on the MCU but the message still returns. Some further info on this machine, the ECC board was replaced, and I think we lost the NVM values on the MCU in the process. Do you know of any procedures to re program the values, and get the MCU and ESS boards back in sync/communication with each other? Also would you be able to send me the service manual for the 5130?

      Thanks!

I'm afraid the only procedure is to copy the NVM from the MCU to the ESS. There's no procedure to go the other way. Was it a new ESS that you installed or a used one? What happened that the ESS needed to be replaced? The service manual is 90MB. I don't have a way to get it to you. Doubt E-Mail will work.

It was a used ESS. When I have the old (original) ESS board in the printer, I enter developer/service mode and go to the NVM settings. I am then given the option to load NVM from ESS, but, when I have the new ESS board in the printer, and do the same, I only have the option to save NVM to ESS. By the way, I pulled the battery (I know, I know) :'( on the original ESS and it displays error 116-364.

          Thanks again!

I just realized something. Did you swap the NVM chip?C398T.jpg

No, should I? The NVM chip is volatile though, wouldn't it be essentially the same thing as pulling the battery, like I did on the other board, which caused error 116-364?

No. Swap the chip. Until I saw the picture of the board, I didn't realize how similar it was to the 31x0 (3110/3130) boards. You need to swap those chips.

Ok, I swapped the chip. I still get error 006-370 at startup, but in the NVM settings I now have the option to Load NVM from ESS.

Have you done that procedure to load from ESS? If not, give it a shot.

Yes I did. Still same error during boot. I am sure the laser is fine though. Any more idea's? I noticed an option to Init NVM, in CE mode. I have also been able to get into Firmware Load mode, where it has options to load firmware from USB, Serial, etc. Sorry about the questions and ramblings, just trying to bounce some ideas off you.
                      Thanks!

Hmmm. I'm out of ideas other than the FIP troubleshooting for that error.

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it in my search for this error. There is a microswitch activated by the back cover. If you try to run the machine with the cover off, it throws this same error - 006-370, IOT 00000003h. Cheat the switch or put the cover on and it's fine.
