xerox 5655 incompatible scanner fitted

I had a client to the scanner went South on so we replaced it with parts from a donor machine the exact same model . Everything worked great for two days and now and says "incompatible scanner fitted"

Anyone ever seen this and know how to correct it?

Try to reload machine software.

I was was hoping not to have to do that. Can I swap drives with the other 55?

Why? It is not so complicated to reload software.
Is machine MBC or SBC?

Download software from xerox web site.
Enter machine ip address in web browser.
Through machine web download software.

Check PJ 135 then power distribution pwb.
Probably some voltages are missing.

Firmware did not help and replaced lvps and still get incompatible scanner fitted.
Any other ideas?

Anyone out there seen this before? This thing is driving me crazy !
