Xerox Phaser 7800 ITB Issue - Opinions wanted

The ITB for this printer got a label stuck to it in two places. The paper itself is pretty much gone, however, the adhesive is left behind causing blotches on prints. I ordered a new belt (took a month!), but, it came in damaged.

I was wondering what you guys thought about removing the adhesive from the belt. Would you do it? What would you use? I've always been hesitant on touching the belt. Much less cleaning it. I'd be afraid by removing the adhesive, instead of blotches, I might see dropouts (light print).

I was thinking of removing the adhesive using GooGone, then using IPA.

you have the process correct... just don't 'scrub' too hard on the belt...

this has work on different brand belts for me

      SUCCESS!!!

Since I have NO idea when I would get the new belt, I gave it a shot. Very carefully rubbed the leftover label with Goo Gone on a Q-Tip until it started lifting off. Used tweezers to lift it off. Used IPA on a lint free piece of towel and gently wiped over the area until it was cleaned.

      Thanks Phil!

I have done the same thing with "GooGone".

Just a word to the wise, this stuff is extremely flamable.

I you decide to use it on a fuser (teflon roller) make sure it's cool and you wipe any residual "GooGone" away with alcohol.

Also watch that you don't let your rags get to anything real hot.

          Just saying....
