Xerox B405 - 'Check fuser mode'

    Hi all

Has anyone had a problem with a B405 where you receive a message to 'check fuser mode' when trying to print an internal page or print to it?

The mode switches on the fuser are in the correct position.....

    Thanks

Late response but for others there are green slides on the side of the fuser. They want the unit set to paper for copying paper and the other way is to set it for fusing envelopes The unit will ask you to set the slides to the proper media if you do not have them slid to the proper place.

The way I fix that problem is to eliminate the "switches" from the circuit. Rewire the fuser so they are out of the circuit, and always in letter paper mode. Yes, you are right: it won't do envelopes. I don't think I have seen anything as stupid as the operator opening the back cover (almost never easily accessible), moving the green slides (possibly breaking them if they don't release the pressure), running the envelopes, and then diving back to the fuser to reset it back to normal. Insane! Those machines never go into accounts that run envelopes. I'd love to meet the design engineer. Just to find out what other "stuff" he, or she, designed.
