    Xerox WC 7830 Developer change

    Hi guys,

I have a Xerox WC 7830i that was over adding and dumping Cyan toner. I've decided to change the developing unit and developer. Do I need to run a set up procedure for new developing unit? Or should it print ok without a set up. Not familiar with Xerox, any help is greatly appreciated!

Haha, thanks for the reply. Just downloaded the manual, hopefully the info is there. Business is still slow so not turning down any work even if I gotta deal with some headaches!

You have to go to Diagnostics and enter the ATC (Automatic Toner Control) value in the system. Normally it is somewhere around 50. The value is the ATC sensor's value got at manufacture and it is unique to the sensor which comes in the new Developer Assy.
You will find the value printed on a small sticker attached to the bottom of Developer housing. Write it down for further use.

The machine will run with wrong value however, but if you really need good color balance you MUST enter the value and run the setup routine. Otherwise you'll finally end up with the dumping issue.
I suggest you check first the present value if it is terribly wrong.

        Good luck.

Awesome info, what's the procedure for accessing the diagnosis mode?

Well! What do we have here? A ___ comedian? Haha

I do agree with you Phil B, I'll definitely be looking up the manual when I work on this beautiful machine.

                not a comedian AH.

I have been working on Xerox crap for the past 28 years...31 years total in the industry. they are getting more difficult to work on AND impossible without the manual and PWS.

put in a manual request here: https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/s...nual-requests/

but don't worry you won't have to deal with the comedian any longer.

Thanks Phil. I started on Minoltas back in '92 myself but rarely work on anything bigger than a desktop for the last 15 years. I've tried other business but the printers are still my bread n butter.
Are you retiring? Or changing industries?

Press and HOLD <STOP> button for 10 seconds. Then enter 6,7,8,9.

The machine has to be in normal copying state eg. Services, E-Mail etc. visible on the touch screen.
Don't reset anything while in Service Mode. You just want to enter the ATC value, eh?

Haven't checked if that works, but AFAIK you should press on hold the 0 button for at least 5 seconds, and then, while you keep holding it, press the green start button. Then it will ask you for a code, which is 6789. Then, the diagnostics menu will be unlocked from the utilities (common settings)

Yeah, either calibrate the new sensor or enter the value it should be set to.

                        Thanks!

Yes, the right procedure is to press ZERO (10 secs), the START and 6,7,8,9

As I do this daily its is so automated that I gave wrong advise, sorry.

Lat, Non OEM toner will cause that. If you replace the housing with carrier that came from OEM toner, and use OEM toner there after, you will be good to go. The waste auger for the cyan drum may also have a problem.
