[Misc] Xerox Altalink C80xx Altboot fail, boot loop

    Hi guys

I am a long time but quiet member of this forum, this forum has helped me countless times, thank you very much!

Now I have at hand 5 Altalink C80xx machines, with wiped HDD and SD-card. The task is to introduce firmware into them. I have made USB-drive, created Altboot-folder, with FORCED_UPGRADE and corresponding DLMs, but all the machines keep rebooting and ignore the USB drive. I made a couple of USB-drives to rule out broken USB-drive, and it doesn't seem to be the case.

Does anyone have specific knowledge of this model? Any pointers?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You need put sd card image to your machine sd card if this was wiped.

Thanks for the quick response. Is there anyway I can put sd-card image without Xerox-tools? I'm not an Xerox engineer.

Sorry if I sound needy, suppose I could get these files, what tools do I need to apply them to the SD-card? Also, I just heard from a guy, saying that the machines may need the earliest version of firmware to Altboot, what I grad from Xerox is only for update. He maybe right?

The files from printscreen image is the files to be writed on sd card not machine firmware files.
The last three files are instructions to write the file, movie about how you write the file and the last is the writing software application.

There are two type of sd card 8GB and 4 GB. First machines 8055 and 8070 was with 4 GB sd card and new generation machine 8070 have 8 GB. The rest of 35-45-55 machine have 4 GB
So you need to know the size of your card and the machine firmware version ( new or old ).

We have 3 C8035s and 2 C8970s, I'll take a look at the SD-cards tomorrow. Thanks for your advice! Cheers!

You are absolutely right. The size of SD-card for C8070 is 8G, the rest are 4G.

I took a photo of the HDD and SD for C8070, maybe the required software should be the version show on the HDD?

This is the software version that came with the copier.
But the current software version on the machine can be different.

I checked one SD-card from a computer which has SD-card reader, voila, the SD-card is blank! So it looks that next step would be to hunt down the SD-card formatting tool and firmware. Anybody willing to lend a helping hand? PM me pls, if you can.

                      Thanks!

A few helpful members of this community helped me out, thanks guys, much appreciated! The solution:

                        1. Introduce image into the SD-card
                        2. Apply the full version of the firmware. This part still needs to be confirmed, I haven't tested the downloaded firmware. I got the full version through a local contact, and the size of the file is well over 400mb, while the downloaded version is something like 200mb in size.

Dlm file with size about 200 MB is for upgrade only. You use it when machine is functional and want to go for upper software version.
