    Wockcentre 7830 cyan +90% toner empty, replace chip->same,replace toner->same

Hi, a few months ago I replaced all toners and they are all at least at 90%. Only atypical thing is that the cyan toner arrived with the pull cyan plastic handle (the ones that gets pulled when we open the front cover) broken so I inserted the toner without it.

Last week I couldn't print as I received a cyan toner empty error (but again all the toners are nearly full). I replaced the chip with same outcome: the machine booted, I heard the typical noise when you put a new toner and after a few minutes: toner empty.

I replaced the cartridge (original OEM one), with a brand new one (OEM) and got the same message. All others (KMY) are working fine (fingers crossed).

Machine is in metered mode, no NVM changes, not under contrat (no problem switching to 3rd party mode if that can help).

Any idea on how to troubleshoot the issue? I have one brand new toner left (and will order some more new chips to recover the opened ones at 90% and the new one).

I had a look at the service manual but I only found how to replace the toner dispenser assembly. Any idea on how to run root-cause-analysis without having to try random stuff and waste who knows how many chips?

My only suspect is that the problem might be mechanical: when I insert/remove the cyan there's no friction/click like there is for other toners (see https://youtu.be/Pka9yKko28E ).

    Thanks!

thanks but could you be specific? There's no mention of dispnser in the service manual, only dispenser motor and dispenser pipe. Check: run diags? Inspect physically?

Spiral rod for cyan is broken in dispenser assy. You have to remove dispenser assy to find.

You could try and run the dispenser motor for the cyan module. If you hear a ticking sound then the auger is either block or broken

            thx!

dispenser assy=dispenser pipe or the rod in the developer unit? Speaking about a spiral rod I'd guess we're talking developer unit but better safe than sorry

Searched in service manual and again, no mention of dispenser assy, except one related to the developer unit: in REP 9.14 Developer Housing Assembly (Y, M, C, K)

That would be ideal as I happen to have 2 spare brand new developer units

Thanks! I knew how to do that in the Phaser 7500, will search for same tool in WC7830 (but I think it's not the case because when the printer detected a new toner, it kept "rolling" and couldn't hear any unusual sound").

find the rod / auger inside the toner dispenser pipe... located exactly under the toner cartridge, above developing unit.

if the auger is blocked / broken... replace it, at the end of the auger. there is a small spring that acts like a mixer (no 12).. Put it back with new auger.

usually if auger is blocked / broken, there is a loud noise when machine is running, or the drum auger will also broken.
Do you use original toner ? or not original toner?

Can you confirm these are the spiral rods you're referring to (Picture taken from a spare developer unit I have) ? If so, I'll do that during this weekend and report back, thx

Would be helpful to explain what/where it is rather than saying what it isn't. Are you referring to the dispenser motor assembly?

ok, now that is a unique and unambiguous definition, thanks! I'll work on that, try to identify the spiral rod (as it's not shown in the service manual) and report back. Thanks again!

xcopytech great intuition/experience/sugesstion. all rods except for the cyan one turn freely. The cyan one is not completely stuck but can move only about 5-10 degrees in each direction.

I sense no broken/shaky parts inside. Is there a way to get the rod out to inspect? Thx!
