    Phaser 7550 <-> Workcentre 74xx compatibility

    Hi, I know the WC74xx is the MFP verison of the phaser 7500 (same parts/consumables except for identity chips). But does anyone know if the 3-trays module (whether 3xA3 or its tandem version) can be used on the Phaser 7500? I'd guess the tandem one (1xA3+2xA4) can't as it has never been sold for the Phaser 7500 (and the firmware wouldn't probably handle it) but what about the 3xA3? Part number for the phaser 7500 is 097S04024 but there's no part number for the workcentre to compare with as the WC74xx don't have it as an option (it's provided by default).

    Thanks!

    I can't tell you with certainty. But, I do know the trays from the WorkCentre 7235/7335 series worked fine on the Phasers 7750 and 7760, they were all interchangeable. My guess is it would work.

      thanks, but I'm not talking about the trays themselves but the entire module that hosts them too, that goes under the printer and connects to it. The part number for the phaser 7500 is 097S04024

        Yes, that is how I understood it, I should have mentioned the tray module instead of the trays. But indeed, the tray modules from the previous 2 series were all interchangeable WorkCentre <=> Phaser, so I would expect the same.

          In fact, again without having done it I can't confirm, but from previous experience, I would not be even a little surprised if the other module with 1 A3 and 2 A4 trays also worked fine. There have been many cases where some feeder or finisher accessory was never sold with a certain model but worked fine. The software people have it all in there usually, since it is largely just copy-and-paste from the WorkCentre software codebase, before the marketing people decide just which features and options to give the printer.

          That's actually the kind of stuff I love to experiment with, I just haven't with that particular model.
