Usually in the right side of one of the A3 size tray it is there an compartment where a usb stick is located. With the printer turned off from both buttons, insert the usb stick into the usb slot on the top left, turn on the printer and it should go past that screen.

I know the machine you bought and the seller. I mean, I know OF them, I don't KNOW them. Your D95 is factory new, and has never been activated. You have to use a "Speed Kit" to activate the machine BEFORE you can use it.
The units he sells do NOT include the Speed Kit. (I believe he is upfront about it in the auction description.) As Adriansto said, once the machine is activated, the USB stick (which is what the Speed Kit is) is usually placed into the the little compartment in Tray 3 or Tray 4. However, the machine you bought has never BEEN activated, so you won't find the USB stick there.
The Speed Kits are for 1 machine only. Once it is used to activate a machine, it will not work with ANY other machine. It is then locked to the serial number of the machine you just used it with. (So you can't use one from a different D95 to activate your D95.)
Xerox does not sell Speed Kits. And typically they are impossible to find, because they are treated as very valuable inventory control. That is why when the machine you bought was liquidated by Xerox (usually as lost or damaged freight) they REQUIRE that the Speed Kits been removed and destroyed or returned.
Sorry for the bad news, but it isn't common at all to find the Speed Kits for the D-series machines. (For the smaller office machines they do turn up, but not for the bigger production machines.)
Without the Speed Kit, there is no way possible to make this D95 functional. It is just parts.
I also bought a D95 from him a couple years ago, and I had to explain to him how without the Speed Kit the machine is non-functional and can't be MADE functional, either. So he IS AWARE of how the Speed Kits work. (And I think that is why he does mention in the description that the Speed Kit is not included, but he doesn't explain that without it, the machine is totally non-functional.)👍 1Comment

Quick follow up... There is a Speed Kit for the D95, a Speed Kit for the D110/D125, and a Speed Kit for the D136.
You can only use a D95 kit with a D95 machine and you can only use a D136 kit with a D136 machine.
However, the D110 and D125 machine is identical, if you use a D110 Speed Kit it "becomes" a D110. If you use a D125 Speed Kit, it "becomes" a D125. The D110 kit includes the blue badge for the front of the machine with "D110" on it, just like the D125 kit includes the D125 badge.
But you cannot use a D110, D125 or D136 kit with a D95 machine, because there are significant hardware differences inside. It will fail because they are physically incompatible. The D95 has a different registration assembly, a different fuser, and a bunch of other different parts than the D110/D125. (And the D136 has a bunch of different parts as well, because it is the newest model and they made a LOT of changes in order to boost the speed.)👍 1Comment

Caffeine's explanation is correct. However, it is possible to clone another D95, but it is tedious and not ideal. Your brand new D95 will get the serial number, counter and NVM values from another D95.
I've had the problem with a brand new AltaLink C8055 I bought without the activation kit. Luckily I was able to get another C8055 with a very low counter (around 2K pages) which I was able to use as a 'donor'. But I do have two machines in the field now with the same serial number. Since I handle all support myself it is no big deal, but it is something to keep in mind.👍 1Comment

Thank You everyone for your reply. I have other D95 that I used the usb and it did not work. The optional software screen pop right back up. I gotten the run around with xerox and they in sales and service claim not to know. One person suggest a clone, How do you clone on D95 from another machine? I would like to also know if I replaced the formatter board would that work?Comment

Since i can get the activation code, I got two old Xerox D95 and two new with no activation. What can i remove from a old D95 to make it work? How do you clone?Comment

I don't have the service manual for the D95 at hand, but normally all permanent NVM are stored in three locations. In the case of the AltaLink, this was the NVM PWB on the IIT PWB, the NVM PWB on the MDS PWB and, from the top of my head, on the SBC (but I might be wrong). I took one chip at a time from the new machine (machine A), put it in the old machine (machine B), booted up. The machine automatically syncs the data from the two 'B' NVM PWB's to the 'A' NVM PWB. Power off. Then take the next chip, boot up again. Turn off. Then take the third chip, boot up again.
So every time you put chip A in machine B, NVM from machine B is cloned onto the NVM PWB. You can leave this chip in the machine, as it contains the same data as the chip you just took out. Following this procedure, all chips will have the NVM data from machine B.
Also clone the SD card from machine B. There are a few (free) applications that can clone SD cards (or any disc, for that matter) block by block. But it all in your machine, boot up, and hope all works well👍 1Comment
