Service manual for Versant 280 Press

    Hi,

I am looking for a service manual for the Versant 280 Press. We will be moving our 280 to a new location, and I want to separate the appropriate components before the move. I was a service tech for Xerox for 18 years, but left Xerox in 1995. At that time, I installed and serviced color printers, but the Versant 280 Press is quite a different box from those earlier color models.

I would appreciate it if anyone could point me to a Versanat 280 Press installation/service manual.

My apologies if I am posting this in the wrong forum.

    Peter

I don't have the service manual, but I don't think there is that much seperating to do. That is, if it's the configuration as shown in the picture. It is pretty straightforward to remove the output catch tray and the shelf on the right hand side. The high capacity feeder connects with 3 data cables (1 for screen, 2 for trays) to the print engine. If you open the small front door, there is a metal rail on the right hand side that you have to push to disengage the tray module from the print engine.
Of course, things get more complicated if you want to remove the DADF assy or fuser, but in my experience it is best to keep the machine in one piece and handle with care.

Thanks for this, Detonation. I won't be separating the DADF assy or fuser. The move is a short one. However, I do think that splitting the tray module from the print engine would allow us to place each component on its own pallet. Fingers crossed.
