I've bumped into an unusual problem, a first for me, and wondering if anyone has seen anything similar?
I have a Xerox 700i which has started printing the black plate shifted away from the C, M and Y plates by about 1.5" (38mm). The CMY plates are perfectly aligned, but the K is ~38mm shifted.
What is unique is that it ONLY happens on 220gsm paper. All paper types lighter than this and heavier than this print fine. It does happen on every print at 220gsm (not intermittent).
100% reproducible, provided the paper is set to 220gsm.
Print server was the bustle 700i server (BP2) originally, then I switched to the EX 700i (BT6) and BOTH do exactly the same, so I don't believe it is related to the server. I think it is likely in the IOT.
I did also exchange the Fiery cable (long style) for a different one, and they both behaved the same.
This all started when I exchanged the K drum motor and the C drum motor. So, obviously, the assumption is that the K drum motor must be bad or possibly the wrong version. However, doesn't it seem odd that it would work perfectly for every single type of printing, EXCEPT for one particular paper weight setting...? Or is this actually not uncommon?
I can put a new K drum motor in, I have a couple used spares on hand, but I wanted to ask the knowledgebase here first, because the machine is in a very complicated location and digging into it to change the motors is really cumbersome, so I'd like to see if this is anything anyone has run into before.
Thanks, as always!
