C8135 waste toner bottle

My ordering clerk had a question that I don't know the answer.
C8135. She said it shows two different waste toner bottles.
One with a suction filter, one without.
Other than the obvious, what is the purpose of the suction fitler
on a waste toner bottle? She said other than that, they look the
same.

I'm asking myself, what's the point of filtering waste toner?


maybe there's a suction filter replacement (located on the left of IBT BELT for WC 78xx series) included if you buy that waste toner cartridge.

According to the manual, the C8170 is the one with the suction filter. The lower speed models all use the non-filter version.

I've just read the technical overview for the machine and there's no mention of this filter, so I've no idea what it's actually doing.
