I have WorkCentre 7225 without PS3 option, on which I'd like to enable the option. I have a bunch of ESS board (with SD cards) around from machines that did have the option enabled. I wonder where the PS3 option enablement is stored. Is it on the SD card? So could I change the SD card even though this would likely also change the printer meters?
Xerox WorkCentre 7225, where is the PS3 option 'stored'?

It is build into machine software and it is linked with serial number of the machine. After you upgrade or reload machine software you must enter the PS code again. -

Thanks Adrian. If I use both the ESS PWB and the SD card from another machine (machine X), but keep the EEPROM, will it (after Altboot) show the serial number (and counter) from machine X? Because I do have the PS enablement code for machine X.

Serial number is on eeprom of MCU pwb, eeprom of IIT pwb and SD card of SBC pwb.
So, theoretically, if you change the three boards you can change the printer serial number with the serial from which the three pwbs come.Comment

That's exactly how it could be done.Comment

I do always save boards when a machine goes the the recycling, but I'm not sure which board came from what machines, so matching the NVM chips is not going to be possible. I'll swop out the machine, thanks for your input!Comment

Can you confirm if this works? This is theory only or anyone has tried this?
PS3 is also removed when you reset NIC so try check (from Xerox licensing by entering the machine serial number) if the machine had postscript previously installed.Comment

Yes, that is very right, I have been lucky to recover PS activation codes on software installation portal, but unfortunately there seems to be none for this serial number.Comment

You can't replace all 3 at the same time. I believe 2 at the most and then the last one.Comment

I might be wrong but I think you can. It's just that you would get the serial number, NVM settings and meter readings from the machine you took the parts from, but that's the whole idea here. Normally I think you can only change one EEPROM at a time, and then you have to go into diagnostics to tell the machine to write machine data to that EEPROM, so it's all synchronised again.Comment
