    Need Help w/Docucolor 242

The Docucolor 242 has the external Fiery rip. If I choose 120 gsm coated paper the Duplex feature is grayed out. The duplex feature is only available with plain paper or uncoated paper. Is there a setting on the Fiery rip or copier for this? It must be able to Duplex the lighter weight coated stocks (I Hope). And is there a way to have the air blowers for the oversized feeder come on for plain paper or uncoated? I would appreciate any input. |I could not find any internet info on this.

    - Thanks

120 gsm coated paper is considered coated1 and the Duplex feature is grayed out. I think plain and heavyweight1 are available for duplexing but I stand corrected. The air blowers normally turn on for coated and heavyweight setting.

      Hi,

Yes that is how I understand it works now. What I'm trying to find out is there a way to adjust the equipment so that it lets me Duplex Coated 1 stock? Also is there a setting for turning on the fans for the Oversized feeder for non coated stocks?

As far as i've worked with coated stocks, these weren't meant to be duplexed automatically due to paper material characteristics (slippery). It is how xerox drivers and machine firmwares were designed. The only way you can duplex it is to set it at heavyweight to let the duplex feature be available.. but you may get colour quality/ print issues. Or manually do doublesiding.. which is really annoying .

Don't really know if you can set the air fan for un-coated stocks. And even if there's a way, I wouldn't recommend it. It may resolve your feed problems temporarily. Again, the blower system was only meant for heavyweight and coated stocks. ON and OFF signals are pre-programmed/ embedded in the system to do its job when stocks are correctly specified.
