Have you sorted out the cables now?

Yes friend. I have the right cables! I'm sure! I also altboot but it does not work! In the sense that it does not start! I seek one that works for XP.

          I have a curiosity. it is possible to transform a 440dc in a 440st?

Another question. I could use the network controller to 230st and put it on the xerox 440st?

You are hopeful, Enzo! The mechanics of the two machines are almost identical, but the electronics are totaly different at every level. They would be totally incompatible.

As far as converting a DC440 into a DC440ST is concerned, it is as far as I know possible, but I think it needs quite a few circuit boards and cables, and definitely not just the network controller. You also definitely need a lot of software, so you are not going to succeed without the PWS. A long long time ago I bought a DC230 hoping to convert it to a DC230ST, but when I opened it up I found massive differences inside.

              Best regards

Hello my friend. I am still looking to the pws for the 440st! however, I just bought another 440, but it is dc and not st. I have 3 more that are all st and another (always st) that it is broken. I would like to take the pieces of St route and get it in the dc to be able to make it in st.

What is wrong with the broken ST? Is it just mechanical, or also electrical? If it is just mechanical, you might just have one chance, and that is to dismantle the whole machine and transfer EVERYTHING electrical to the DC. Mixing components from the two machines will not work without PWS, because the software will be incompatible.

If you try this option it would be a good idea to note down the version numbers of all components of both machines before starting, because you might want this information later in case of problems.

Well. The ST broken, missing card to high voltage and the laser is split.
So basically I use it for spare parts. But it has the network kit that it only need load the software. The DC is brand new! I took it from stock XEROX because it has never been sold. Therefore, I would like to enter only the network kit.

If the laser and high voltage card are missing/broken that should be OK as they are not relevant to the software, but all the control circuitry must be working OK, and the software must be completely working. If you transfer all the circuit boards from one machine to the other and the software is defective then you are just transfering the defective software from the broken machine to the new machine and then the new machine will also be broken. Otherwise it should work, but you have to know what you are doing and there is a LOT of potential for mistakes.

What about the rubber rollers on the broken machine, can you spare me those?

                      Best regards

I always remember to send those rollers, my friend. But unfortunately on the new car (the DC) those rolls had your same problem and then I used them myself! Do not worry that I will always remember you

On the brand new machine the rollers were sticky??!!!

Of course, the rubber deteriorates with age even if it is not used, and it must have been sitting in the warehouse for years. Do you have a source for replacement parts? There is a specific kit with all the rollers as new replacement. On one of my machines all of my rollers are failing one after the other.

Yeah friend, the rollers were sticky because the machine has stopped since 2004! I have a friend of mine who works as a salesman in XEROX and I have several technical friends at XEROX, but now they also have difficulty in finding parts for the 440! In fact I have 5 machines and go on until I'll be able to find the pieces. And I still have to reload the software on a machine! Nowadays I still have not been able to do anything! Damn!

Hello friends. I think I was wrong in buying the cables to reload the software on DC440st. Can you tell me, please, what right cables should I use? (preferably with photos).
I have the mini centronics and that is correct.
I have a null modem (female / female) and that is correct.
which must be the serial cable? I found the cables that are called RS232 and others that have the words "null modem". and what should I buy?
                              male/ female - male/male - female/male?
