Best cleaning product for xerox rollers??

What is the best "cleaning" or "rubber renewing" product that
can be safely used on the paper rollers on XEROX copies?

I own a Xerox DOC 250 and have been getting a lot of paper jams lately.

I have used two products in the past.

One is called RUBBER RENEW by a company call M.G. Chemicals.

The other is called SUREWASH ROLL CLEANER by a company called Baumfolder Corporation.

Also, I noticed that there are at least THREE different types of rollers inside of my Doc 250.

There are the "soft" rubber black rollers.

There are the "hard" plastic blask rollers

and there are the "soft" plastic "clear/white" rollers

Is there a product that I can safely use on all of these?

    Thanks in advance.

Worn rollers should be replaced to prevent damage or excessive wear on the machine, but if there is still plenty of tread on the rollers, paint thinner works very well. hard and soft plastic rollers can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol to get any dirt or toner buildup off of them. These solutions are not only effective in the field, but inexpensive as well.

if you want your machine to work smooth, then replace is the only option. I dont bother to clean stuff, just replace and machine keeps on running
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one

From a service standpoint, it is costly to replace rollers (as cheap as they are anyway) prematurely when most times they just need to be cleaned. Again, check your treads. And never use alcohol on the rubber, just like you never use thinner on plastic!

Or go for gasoline to start up the generator using a styrofoam cup

DUH! Good thing I wasn't smoking at the time.

                  WD-40?

                  WD-40 for cleaning the rollers?

                  Hmmmm....sounds interesting.

                  Anyone else use this method?

                  Thanks for all the ideas.

Use a rubber rejuvenator product. Usually at paper supply warehouses.
Alcohol will dry out the rubber, so don't use. The clear rolls you can clean and sometimes will work fine for a while, but replacing is the most reliable method for that type.

wd 40 works great on things like registration rollers and vertical path rollers even fuser rollers AS LONG AS THEY ARE COOL be carefull i have heard it will FLASH !!!!! ... as far as tires go your probably better off replacing them ... once the tread is gone its gone

I've used WD-40 before in a pinch. I wouldn't rely on it as a permanent fix. May cause more problems than it's worth and if the tread's marginal your problem isn't solved anyway. Compared to the price of the machine replacing the rollers is a cheap fix, premature or not! You'll spend more time and effort trying to resurrect the old rollers than it's worth.

The phrase "tripping over dollars to pick up a dime" springs to mind.

Yes WD-40 does work very well as it rejuvinates the rubber, however you have to make sure you dry them off really well afterwards as wd40 is primarily a lubricant. Nobody ever said to use alcohol on the rubber rollers, I stated this. Use alcohol to clean PLASTIC rollers as it does not degrade the plastic. Go ahead and spend the extra money for a rubber rejuvinator product, or other roller cleaning products, that are all comprised of the same stuff I told you to use (hence the comment about being much more cost effective)

                              WD-40 is not a lubricant, it's a cleaner.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
