Not really on topic but curious

I work for a company that was recently acquired by Xerox (Global Imaging). I have not been trained on any xerox equipment as of this writing and as far as I can tell I have not been scheduled for any.

Was curious what you guys think of Xerox and the equipment they produce. Good, Bad, indifferent? Want to know how it holds up and what if any quirks they have.

I personally have been working on Xerox equipment for about 4 and half years now I mostly started on the older models in the 5000 series big and small ones now I mostly work on the newer stuff only on occasion running into some 5000 stuff Xerox equipment holds up well for most office enviroments you only really have problems with machines when a machine has been put into a setting where it should not be I.E. putting a smaller 15-20 page machine in a large office setting and expecting it to perform 10,000 a month the machine will breakdown faster then you can believe but other then that they're really reliable machines also helps if you have maitenance done on the them often.

I own a DC470 and 3 x DC425ST which I service and repair myself, and I also completely disassembled these machines on several occasions (moving,etc.). My limited conclusion is that those Xerox machines are reliable and very well built. Things do go wrong sometimes, but I always had the feeling of being able to repair things in order to keep them running. Kind of the difference between repairing a quality car and a cheapo brand model in which suddenly all parts start failing at once making you think of buying a new one rather than repairing it.
The only drawback to me - and that is a big one - is that Xerox is outrageously expensive. They make BMW and DaimlerChrysler spare parts look cheap next to them (I mean that); they're rather into the Porsche league pricing .

you also own an expensive model of xerox to but yes they are expensive but there are alternatives to buying Xerox brand you can get the same part but from the original manufacturer such as samsung and toshiba and they are much cheaper look up Base technologies and if you think the B&W machines are expensive dear god the prices on the phaser printer lines can be thousands more then B&W models, for example last week I repaired a C2424 which is a copier, scanner, printer all in one color B&W machine I had to replace the Electronics module now the part is $5,900 the machine new is only $3,000 but they had a contract so they were safe.
