That depends. I'd give RECHARGERSTORE a call and see if the can help you out. They have the devices and software to do it. The procedure varies depending on the chip you need resetting.

To reset Xerox DC440 chip you need Xerox90/Xerox01 programmer.

I already know the site "Cartridge chips XC01/X90/X01 Programmer" but its equipment is very expensive!
with chiprecharge.com I can not get in contact so I do not know if it works!

Hello. I bought a programmer from Bulgaria (24Cxx, 93Cxx and 25xxx Serial Eeprom programmer E-EPROM su eBay.it Electronic Components, Electrical Test Equipment, Business Industrial) but now I do not know how to do this work! I was suggested to use an adapter to a difference of xerox dc440 and I've got. But where to attack the wires? I am sending you the pictures:
                1) Adapter for my xerox dc440

then I have a clear summary. I want to reset the chip for xerox dc440 and the DC230.

                  1) I have this programmer:

                  2) I removed from an old machine, the part of the connector of the chip:

                  http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3001/immag0082.jpg

                  3) I have the program and PonyProg KEEProg_USB.

Now, with these elements can be able to reset my chip?
If yes, how can I do?
Can you tell me where I need to attach the 4-wire connector to the programmer?

Hardware - OK, but for reset dc440 CRUM you need special software-restorer for XC01/Xerox01/Xerox90 chip.
PonyProg and KEEProg_USB software can't rewrite XC01/Xerox01/Xerox90 chip.
If you read XC01/Xerox01/Xerox90 chip with PonyProg or KEEProg_USB - killed this chip.
                    XC01/Xerox01/Xerox90 - similar to 24c02 i2c chip. Read datasheet 24c02.
                    Pinout your connector:

thanks for the reply. I was told I could surely use PonyProg! Now where do I find the program that you say? And where do I attach the wires?

On the socket in the programmer for the 2402, connect as follows:
                              GND: pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 7
                              SDA: pin 5
                              SCA: pin 6
                              Vcc: pin 8

For the black generic chips, PonyProg can be used without difficulty. Once you have the connection working, make a backup copy on hard disk of an unused chip (one for the DC230, one for the DC440) and use that for resetting the used generic chips each time.

I've just taken a look at the schematic for the 2402 and it occured to me for a moment that it might give faster access putting pin 7 on Vcc instead of GND for use with PonyProg, but looking closer I think it is better to stay on GND. Maybe someone could confirm this.
