if I remember well, in this case should be cleaned home position sensor (IBT belt) and silver patch (on the belt - inside).

So just clean the IBT cleaner assembly on picture 09 with the special vacuum cleaner if you have, and the grey patch on the IBT belt (the black part on picture 13), and be careful with the belt.

Have had this problem with mine in the past, if i didnt have a service manual i would be SOL, I find depending on how many copies per month you do, every other month-ish i clean the whole ITB assembly ( reflective Patch, Rollers, General cleaning ) and Mostly what needs cleaned is the cleaning assembly. This assembly is to small for what people put these machines threw, me being one of them ( Running Txt weight gloss duplex-ed, 120# Coated paper DBL sided, basically anything that will run though it i have ran in the past 3 years-ish ive had my 252 ). I had an issue with my belt constantly moving off center, This was very frustrating running a job all night and every 3 hours the belt would need adjusted back to center, this is fun at 3 in the morning...... I ended just buying a whole IBT assembly off ebay for like 350 or something, and that fixed my problem, i think it was the cleaning assembly's blade was dull and stretched my belt maybe? IDK, im not a copy tech, just a guy with a print shop, 2 dc252's, a little bit of tech common sense and a service manual, and so far i havnt got stuck yet. Xerox doesnt know how i keep my machines running, my answer is the internet most of the time. Hope my experiences can help.

Also, when replacing IBT belt, does position of silver tape square matter? ( got belt off jayc67. Thanks much. I am starting to think about buying a new assembly.

You're welcome timmedley! the silver patch on IBT belt has to be very clean, and opposite of the detector on the IBT belt assembly. When you change the belt, it tooks the right place when you restart the machine (is it your question's answer?).

After cleaning the assembly, do you need to reset the NVM? This is on a Xerox DC700.

Thank you so much for your help.
