Xerox WC Pro 575 3/4 of page is totally black when copying. Is there a bulb or electrical connection that is shorted out?

No, I didn't have a tech look at it. This printer will print and receive faxes with no problems. I cannot make copies or fax out. Is there a reasonabley priced replacement scanner out there for replacement?
