    [Dead] Workcentre 232

    Hey, gang.

I am trying to restore a WC232 that I believe has a dead hard drive. I am able to get identical hard drives from ebay, but my attempt at cloning a working drive to my new blank drive has met with failure.

My understanding is that I need to obtain a Xerox PWS and somehow use it to restore the software to the new hard drive. These PWSes are expensive, though, and so I wanted to make sure I was on the right track.

    Thanks for any insight.

      Nilak,

We had actually tried that, under windows with a cloning utility, but the drive that we wished to clone was inaccessible. Have you found that this process works better under linux?

      Thanks again.

the entire firmware is built with the use of Linux for scanning, ftp transfer, printing, net embedded functions all. As other replied threads try cloning the drive with use of linux it should work. use something like clonezilla, fog. u should install these on red hat linux 9 OKK
