      Book won't help you much with this description. You should go on site and collect more info, maybe some error code.

          Probably black ( noire ) FireWire defect cable, and reports sound like 'FireWire comunication error "
          Need a white ( blanc ) FW cable.

              That happened on a friends 7655, wasn't the fire wire but the controller. He got another controller and he's still not up and running. I understand this is a well know issue with these machines.
