Hi all, I've just bought a used WC7655 but ran into some problems. During transport of the machine it was layed down on its back with the toners still inside. When I turned it on it worked fine but now the pages come out with black smudges, front and back, I was hoping anyone can instruct me as to how to solve this. I have opened the machine and cleaned the toner that was scattered inside. Best regards,Ricardo

You will need to do more than "open" the machine.
Toner is the least of your concerns.
You probably have drum/dev., transfer, & transport racks full of developer. Not to mention the drive unit, boards and probably trays too.
If the machine was indeed set on its back...
(Pausing here for deep, cleansing breath...)
...Best, in the long run, to remove all drums and developers (shield the drums in a dark cabinet somewhere), along with its rack assy; transfer belt assy and rack; fuser and all transport assy components, and the rack; all paper trays. It might not be a bad idea to pop the ROS hood, too, and clean the dumpage that's sure to have invaded the area. Peel back the MCU-IOT assy and clean/inspect it and drive section for toner/developer contamination.
In short, break the machine down to parade rest.
Put in some earplugs, grab a good brush and fire up a microfilter shop vac and clean -- clean -- clean.
(Did I miss anything guys?)

I could just about guarantee a minimum bill of a $Large to rescue a machine that had this done to it.
And those of you who protest a buck-fifty an hour is "more than my lawyer charges!"...
Have your lawyer do it.
(PS
After you've done all of this, remind me what your problem is and I have an answer.)

Re: Workcentre 7655 Toner Smudges
Everything is fine now. Called a technician, he cleaned everything and did some software updates that were preventing the tray 5 from accepting paper configuration. Diagnosed IBT and fuser that need replacement and gave me a hefty bill. Thanks everybody for your opinions. I look forward to contributing in this forum. Best regards. RComment
