xerox 510 intermittent Black line

I have been having issues with a xerox 510 with a 3millimeter thick black line that comes from the machine.

I would run electrostatics and that would complete with no errors. The line does print on every print/copy

but on every other print/copy.

I am guessing the line runs in the process direction. If it runs across the print as it comes out, that would be a completely different matter. Lines as you describe generally are caused by a dirty scorotron. When cleaning the pin array and shield, be certain not to use a towel or anything that may transfer lint to these components. I prefer to use a brush, then follow up by wiping the parts down with my fingers. A close visual inspection afterwards insures clean parts.

You are right the lines are in the process direction. We have replaced the transfer socrotron but I will do

like you said and take down clean and inspect. I will also look at the charge as well.

Just for future reference, the transfer would only cause light streaks in the print, not black lines.

you were right on, I replace screen and clean charge scorotron and copy/prints

are excellent.
