What version of altboot you have?
Do you have null modem cable?
Connect null modem cable to serial port on controller and on PC.
Also need cross over network cable.

yes, I have all the serial cables, including null modem.
I have the ALTBOOT version 20.3 - WC5632-5687F

I would like to know how to proceed to reload. how to set up the network settings with the inserted Ethernet cable.

Where is the null modem ?

Are you sure the orange device is really a null modem ?

Yes my friend. I am sure because I use the same cable to reload on xerox 440st and it works fine.

Set pc ip address to 192.168.0.10
Connect null modem and crossover with controller.
Start altboot.
Power on machine
After a few seconds you should get some text on altboot screen.
Then press any key to interupt boot.

If you have another machine it will be good to try altboot on it.
I think that your altboot sofware is corrupted.

I think so too! also on another machine it gives the error. I need to reload the software!

Hello friends. I finally managed to start the altboot for the xerox 5645 with mbc controller. Just started the program, it asks me for the password (as from photo). what password should I enter?

There isnt any passwd for altboot.
The bios controller dont see the hdd.
Harddisk is missing, or it is bad, or hdd cable or connection bad, or ...

Ok! I've also tried with another controller and the situation is the same! Do you think it is better to format the hard disk from the PC and then try again with the altboot?
