WC 4125 Touch Screen Calibration Shortcut?

While calibrating the touch screen in the service mode the power went out and now the touch screen is way out of calibration. I figured out how to navigate all the way to the calibration menu but I cant figure out where on the screen to touch to go the last step. It's very frustrating and time consuming.

I've seen some shortcuts given on this site for the 72 series machines (hold 0,1,3 and power on) to get to the touch screen calibration. I tried it on the 4150 but it doesn't work. Does anybody know if there is a similar procedure for this series of machine. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Paul, I have the tech manual but no mention in there about any short cut for the touch screen calibration.

Perform Touch Screen adjustment before replacing User Interface components.

If unable to activate the DC305 button, use this procedure to line-up the touch icons.

WARNING: The procedure below may be used to enter a hidden Diagnostic Menu on the WorkCentre. It is important to follow these exact instructions. Selecting the wrong menu option will require a power OFF / ON of the WorkCentre. Under no circumstances should this procedure be given to an end user or anyone not certified to service the 4150.

    From the WorkCentre Control Panel:

    1. In the following order, press and hold [C], [ * ] and [ # ] buttons at same time. When the Diagnostic Menu screen is displayed, release the buttons.

NOTE: It is important to press the keys in the correct order to avoid beginning a fax dial sequence.

    2. Press the [C] button to enter Calibration mode.

    3. Select the targeted numbers in sequence on the Touch Screen, starting with 1.

NOTE: Pressing the center of each target will yield the best alignment results. If the message 'Fail to validate points, press any key to exit' is displayed, select any button on the Control Panel and start over.

    4. Select the targeted numbers again, in sequence on the Touch Screen, starting with the 1. Each location selected will display a small black box.

WARNING: This final step is important to follow in order to completely exit the hidden Diagnostics Menu screen and avoid inadvertently causing additional problems.

    5. Select any button on the Control Panel and then 0 to exit Diagnostics.

NOTE: The calibration may be performed several times. Press the [C] button on the Control Panel to repeat the calibration.

NOTE: Careful use of a stylus or retracted ball-point pen will yield more accurate UI Test or Calibration results than using a fingertip.

    dC305 UI Test

Refer to GP 12 User Interface Tests Description.

    Procedure

    1. Enter diagnostics, GP 1.
    2. Select, Diagnostics Routines, Copier Routines, dC305 UI Tests.
    3. Touch the appropriate test button.
    4. Touch Start Test and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Touch Screen Calibration
Use this test to re-calibrate the touch screen. After entering this test, follow the instructions displayed on the user interface to perform, then exit the test. Touch the cross-hairs as targets in the order of the numbers displayed, twice for confirmation:

Confirmation squares do not have to be perfectly centered over each axis, but calibration will fail if some portion fails to touch either the horizontal or vertical line in each location.
