Xerox DC250 code 042-328 multiple problems- Please help!

I have had to take my machine apart for a good deep clean as i am having issue with the ROS units/windows leaving a faded line on the right hand side of an A3 Print - now all put back together i am suffering from an error code 042-328.

I don't have a service contract on the machine as we purchased it second hand to print mainly charity booklets and charity trifold newsletters.

Is there any engineers in the south west (somerset/devon) that is able to undertake work on this machine? We are very desperate at the moment.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Many thanks,
    Colin

There can be several reasons for this error code but the most common is from IBT assembly or from IBT sensors. Service manual will be a helpful

042-328 and 042-326 quite common on that model, is the belt tracked off to one side at all? If so re centre, make sure edge Sensor at rear is not tucked under belt or edge of belt is curled to much. Also patch on inside of belt can get dirty or become worn. If you get error code every time mc turned on you may need to reset nvm code, think its 741-105 if 0 it's ok, if 3 set to 0. Any thing more serious probably require tech or parts.

042-328 Is a belt edge sensor monitor fail. The small edge sensor is probably dirty, it may not have the modification cover that protects it from toner dust.

You will need to remove the IBT assy and then the IBT belt. The belt edge sensor is plastic with a stainless cover. It rides along the edge of the IBT belt. Remove the sensor and its plastic cover(the mod) and blow it out with compressed air. Also while you are there blow out the belt monitor sensor (042-326) and the Teflon patch on the underside of the Belt itself. As described above.

        Good luck!

thank you everyone for your help. I already have a copy of the service manual, but thank you for the offer.

I have ordered an new ibt belt, so that should be with me by monday. I also followed InterfaceP's advice with the IBT sensor, which has allowed me to get the machine running again error free, although i now have an issue with printing, which i have put onto a seperate thread,, if anyone can help. Sorry for the late reply - I alone am trying to run a design and print agency, and my main client is on hold for 6000 folded leaflets and 5000 booklets, so my head is all over the place as this is my only machine

Thank you again for everyones help

Here is the new thread with the problem i am experiencing

When you get the belt make sure you peel the sticker of the back of the silver square on the inside of the belt before you install it otherwise you will have no end of trouble. When you are doing it just be careful not to peel off the silver square that is underneath it or you will destroy the belt.

I would strongly suggest against this. The Teflon coating keeps the reflective sensor clean. Removing it will be cause the error to frequently occur.

It is on the other hand a band-aid fix.

[this is for anyone in the future looking for a solution to a similar problem]

By the way check for a retrofit to reduce the incidence of the 042-326 --42-328 codes part number is Eureka the kit contains to guides for inboard to prevent Ibt to bent up in the border so the sensor can track accurately, as well includes a small swap to keep ibt bet relective sqaure clean from toner is a good one and inexpensive.

                    Hope this help,
