    DC252 Magenta marks

    Hello all,

I'm having trouble with this problem. Getting magenta marks across the top of each page.

Machine has had new devs a drums.

Machine is dumping dev and toner everywhere.

I vac it out and it prints fine for a few copies then the marks return.

    Any ideas? Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I've asked client to send me pic. What are you looking for?

None of my pictures are uploading, tried a few formats, is there a problem with pics?

        Cheers.

You may need to use a third party site for the pics.

I'm thinking something is broken. The developer unit has a piece that runs along the developer housing that controls the amount of developer/toner that contacts the drum.

You say it spills toner and developer?? Sounds strange are you sure its developer? You can easily tell by using a magnet or by the weight.

          Good luck!

            Hello,

Yes dev is piling up at the back of the machine on 2nd transfer unit and duplexer. There's also a band of toner around the back on the transfer belt (all magenta).

The dev on the mag roller is higher at the back end of the roller, can the mag roller come out of position? The gears seem fine, machine has only done 300k.

Don't have a spare dev tank to try, and machine is out of warranty.

Thanks again for your time. I'll sign up for a 3rd party image site later.

              Re: DC252 Magenta marks

Client has just sent pic of mag dev tank. Roller has no dev on rear 3 inches.

Is it possible dev tank has failed? Wouldn't that give me a fault code.

Normally only work on sharp and ricoh and dev dump would just be a charge issue.

              Any help appreciated.

              Cheers.

Did the machine have this same problem before the magenta developer and drum were replaced or is this a new problem after they were installed?

Did you verify if the machine is level front to back? Gravity can be a bitch on an uneven floor.

Hi, he said it started when he fitted new drums, I have tried swapping drums but fault stays with magenta.

                  Floor is level.

                  Thanks for your input.

OK, I think you should open up the M dev unit to see whats going on. You may have a "toner rock" inside clogging things up.

Remove the M drum>Remove the screw and cover exposing the electrical connector disconnect it> Remove two 5.5 mm screws located in the front and rear of the dev

                    unit>Remove the cover.

The auger should be full of toner in the first chamber, and dev. in the second (right to left) Ensure the auger moves freely and has no obstructions. You can also remove the

leveling bar that runs across by removing the two Phillips head screws. This controls how much developer comes out of the unit. If it's not properly seated it could allow too

                    much developer to come out.

The developer unit isn't parted out.

                    Good Luck!

Thanks but I changed dev while I was there. Vacced out the dev unit completely, checked gears and mag roller (is that called auger on these?).

                      Nothing appeared out of place.

Wish I had another dev unit to try!

                      Thanks for the advice.

Returned to have another look at magenta dev unit. Leveling bar looked good, really stumped!

Going to try another dev unit.

                        Thanks.
